A history

I've been taking photographs for over forty years - ever since my dad taught me how to process and print my own b&w films at home. Photography wasn't my first career, though. I was - and still am (as a freelancer) - an advertising creative, working in London. I started at Saatchi & Saatchi, which was widely regarded as the best agency in the world, back then. Coming up with ideas has been my job for three decades. But writing and making ads isn't the only outlet for those skills.

A great photograph is an idea. It should communicate something, it should capture the imagination, and it should inspire a reaction. And like any good advertising idea, it should seem simple (even if the truth is anything but).
